McKinley Village

New Home Company / Riverview Capital

Sacramento, CA

The visionary team for McKinley Village, Sacramento’s newest urban neighborhood, has taken a challenging entitlement environment and seemingly insurmountable land constraints and woven a brilliant new place, creating a metaphorical link from the past to the future.

The nearly 50-acre site is home to nearly a dozen unique parks and community gardens with inspired art installations, competition style pools and engaging play spaces that complete this master-planned village. Seeking to respect the tradition of the adjacent historic McKinley Park neighborhood while still maintaining its own unique character, the designers employed a restrained palette of timeless materials that intentionally blurred the edges of the old and the new. This philosophy is first introduced on McKinley Village Way, the front door and first impression of the new community, that includes an art-inspired under pass for the Union Pacific Railroad and connects the 336 residences of McKinley Village with the existing historic neighborhoods in nearby downtown Sacramento.
